NOTE: Full payment of the required minimum fundraising amount is due by July 1, 2012 in order to participate.

 

Participation Categories - all participants must register online.

Tour of Vision (3 Day Tour) - this is the premium CFS experience. Participants receive all benefits and options.
Each participant on a single bike agrees to and is required to contribute a minimum of $1000; each participant on a tandem agrees to and is required to contribute a minimum of $800 ($1600 per tandem).  BSC tandem teams (local or distant) have a goal of raising $1600.  A deposit of $50 is required from all cyclists at the time of registration.

CycloRallye (Second Day Only Participant) - If you can only make one day, try the CFS CycloRallye - a unique cycling experience! $75 plus optional jersey for $50 more. No lodging or meals (except pre-ride meal).

Roll-Out (First Day Only Participant) - $75 plus optional jersey for $50 more. No lodging or meals (except pre-ride meal).

Arrivêe (Third Day Only Participant) - $75 plus optional jersey for $50 more. Lunch and Finish Line Fair included.

Volunteer or Staff - A limited number of volunteer positions are available. Applying in this category does not guarantee acceptance. Volunteers and Staff are complimentary guests of the tour, and subject to Event Director placement.

Event Schedule

Thursday July 12, 2012 — Pre Tour Orientation

Arrive early at 5:30 pm parking behind building at 5930 El Cajon Blvd, San Diego, California 92115. A Pre-tour Orientation will start at 6:00 pm with goodie bag distribution and dinner available after 7 pm.
Meet fellow cyclists and volunteers, pick up goodie bags and learn about the 3-day weekend of activities before the roll-out Friday morning.

Friday July 13, 2012 — Roll-Out (75 miles): Pfizer La Jolla to UC Irvine
6:45 am Arrive at Pfizer La Jolla (10646 Science Center Drive, San Diego, CA 92121)
7:00 to 7:45 am Final preparations / group photo / media interviews
8:00 am Roll out
MIDWAY Checkpoint Las Pulgas Road parking lot (35 Miles)
(On arrival) Check into UCI dorm lodging - Mesa Court
5:00–7:00 pm Dinner – Mesa Dining Commons
7:30 pm  Evening Program

Saturday July 14, 2012 CycloRallye (35 miles, with option up to 50 miles)
Meet at UC Irvine on 2745 Mesa, Irvine, CA 92697 // mapquest link

A creative concept event combining cycling with adventure tasks, designed to tease the brain and tickle the funny-bone. Translation: Miles of pure fun on bikes. Valuable prizes awarded at Evening Program.

7:00-8:30 AM Breakfast at Mesa Dining Commons.
7:00-8:30 AM Check-in for riders joining CFS tour on Day 2, goodie bag pickup.
8:00 - 9:00 AM Self-start CycloRallye, upon picking up Rallye kit at start/end point (Mesa Rd).
CycloRallye is flat and scenic, preferred bike paths and routes, includes the beach scene and a lot more . . .
Noon - 3:00 PM End of CycloRallye, cyclists return kits for scoring (speed does not count).
All Afternoon  Open pool play, at Anteater Recreation Center (ARC); shuttles provided.
5:00-7:00 PM   Dinner at Mesa Dining Commons.
7:30 PM  CycloRallye Awards and Evening Program in Bahia or Lago dorm.

Sunday July 15, 2012 - Arrivêe - 75 miles (UCI to Pfizer La Jolla)
7:00 – 8:00 AM Breakfast at Mesa Dining Commons

3:30 pm - 4:30 pm Finish Line Fair - a Sunday Sundae Ice Cream Social - family and friends are invited.

Each cyclist is also responsible for signing in at a pre-determined daily midway checkpoint, identified on the route slip and staffed by the SAG team. In total, 3 signed and timed log entries are made by each CFS cyclist: at morning departure, at midway checkpoint, and on arrival at the daily destination.
